Nick Diaz Says He Can Beat Canelo Alvarez In A Boxing Match

Canelo Alvarez is one of the most decorated boxers in the sport right now, recently signing a $365 million deal with DAZN.

UFC fighter Nick Diaz hasn’t competed in the Octagon since UFC 183, but he says that Canelo can make even more money if they fight one day.

“[Alvarez] is coming up to 168 and he’s fighting some no names. At the end of the day you’ll make more money fighting me,” said Diaz to TMZ Sports. “If y’all gonna make all that money; these guys are making billions of dollars now, millions of dollars now — I’m a better fighter. I’m a bigger draw.”

Diaz has no professional boxing experience to speak of, but has fought a total of 37 fights as a professional MMA fighter.

If a bout between the two were to happen at 170 pounds, a confident Diaz believes he can defeat Alvarez.

“Let’s be real Canelo moving up to my weight, he ain’t gonna win that fight. No way, come on man. You’re just basically one of them little guys I spar on before I fight ... I am a professional fighter. I’ve had over 37 fights,” says Diaz.

There has been no response from Alvarez yet as to what Diaz said, but he is scheduled to fight Rocky Fielding on December 15.
