NSAC Chairman Says Corners May Be Punished For UFC 229 Brawl

UFC 229 will most likely go down as one of the most remembered events in UFC history, not for the Octagon action, but for the post-fight brawl instigated by UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) Chairman Anthony Marnell claims that not just the fighters, but their corners could be punished as well for the post-fight brawl.

“(Those who were both licensed by the NSAC & participated in the brawl) will have action brought against them,” Marnell said to MMA Junkie.

Nurmagomedov has seen his fight purse withheld, with just half being given to the fighter, while the champion and Conor McGregor both have already received ten day suspensions fro the brawl from the NSAC.

The NSAC is reviewing a large amount of film related to the brawl, leaving no stone unturned for future punishments.

“There’s a lot of film we’re reviewing that you’re not seeing,” he said. “There’s a lot going on that the public is probably not aware of.”

Another NSAC meeting is scheduled for this December, which is where the punishments are expected to be handed out for the UFC 229 post-fight brawl. UFC President Dana White has already declared that Zubaira Tukhugov and Islam Makhachev wouldn't fight in the promotion anymore for their alleged roles in the brawl.
