Omari Akhmedov competed on the main card of UFC Fight Night Wichita, defeating Tim Boetsch by way of unanimous decision.
The fighter celebrates Ramadan and would like to get in another bout before it takes place.
?I?m not injured, so I?m ready to go,? Akhmedov told MMA Junkie. ?Either UFC Sunrise or UFC St. Petersburg, I?m ready for either/or if the UFC gives me an opponent. I have to fight before May before Ramadan, so I?m ready.?
UFC St. Petersburg is set for April 20 and UFC Sunrise (Fort Lauderdale) is scheduled for April 27.
Akhmedov competed at UFC Wichita after a long layoff and doesn?t want the process to repeat itself.
?I had a long layoff ? I missed my (UFC) Moscow fight (this past September) because of injury,? Akhmedov said. ?I came to the U.S. and I?ve been here for half a year. I wanted to plan for a fight. I didn?t want to take any chances. I?m really happy with my performance and happy to be victorious.?
Ramadan begins on Monday, May 5 and is set to end on Tuesday, June 4, no word has been given at the UFC at this time as to whether or not Akhmedov will get scheduled to fight before Ramadan.
