Paige VanZant Looking To Fight By Year's End

Paige VanZant was expecting to make her flyweight division debut in a few weeks at UFC 216, but she had to pull out of the fight due to a myriad of injuries.

Despite her recent setback, the female fighting sensation expects to step back into the Octagon by the end of the year, depending on how her timeline works out.

“Depending on my healing timeline, I’ll fight anyone who is available,” she said to MMA Fighting.

PVZ says she will fight anyone who is available when she is ready to return, which means she could still wind up fighting her opponent at UFC 216 in Jessica Eye.

Eye’s status is unknown at this time as well because UFC officials have yet to announce if she is staying on the UFC 216 card or taking another fight at a different time.

This fight would’ve marked the flyweight division debut for both women, as PVZ had previously competed at strawweight and Eye had previously competed at bantamweight.

Neither woman has fought in quite some time as well, with Eye last competing at UFC 203 and PVZ last competed at UFC On Fox 22.

UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
