Patrick Day In Coma After Brutal Knockout Loss To Charles Conwell

Patrick Day is a battle for his health after a very scary moment at the end of his fight against Charles Conwell.

During the DAZN undercard for Oleksandr Usyk vs. Chazz Witherspoon on October 12, Day was knocked out in the 10th round by Conwell with his head bouncing off the canvas as he went down and didn't move after going down. Day was down for a while after the knockout and was tended to by medical personnel, who eventually carried day out in a stretcher. It was later revealed during the broadcast that Day did not regain consciousness and suffered a seizure before arriving to the emergency room at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Day then fell into a coma, but according to ESPN, it is unclear if he lapsed into the coma naturally or if doctors placed him in a medically induced coma.

Both Conwell and Day had a very tough fight with both men hitting each other with hard shots to the body but Conwell would go on to win a majority of the exchanges between the two. Conwell scored two knockdowns before the 10th round knockout.

DiBella Entertainment posted the following update on his condition in the evening of October 13:

Patrick Day suffered a traumatic brain injury during his bout on Saturday night. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. As of Sunday evening, Patrick is in a coma caused by the injury and is in extremely critical condition.
