Paulie Malignaggi Says McGregor Doesn't Have "Oh My God" Power

Paulie Malignaggi is coming off of a training session with UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, as McGregor is preparing to box Floyd Mayweather this August.

Malignaggi also spent some time sparring with McGregor and according the the retired fighter, the Irishman’s power is good enough, but not "Oh My God Power."

“It’s definitely above average. I wouldn’t say it’s ‘Oh my God’ power,” Malignaggi said on The Jim Rome Show. “This is what I call ‘Oh my God’ power, even in sparring, and you’re like ‘Oh my God,’ like wow, this guy really hits hard.”

McGregor has shown plenty of knockout power in his professional MMA career, with 18 of his 21 wins as a pro coming by KO/TKO.

Even Malignaggi admits that having “Oh My God” power is a rare thing in the boxing world.

“Now, ‘Oh my God’ power is very rare. There’s above average power, so if he lands a good shot on you, I mean granted, with small fight gloves he will hurt you, but it’s not ‘Oh my God’ power where every time he touches you you’re like my goodness, this is very uncomfortable. It’s not that kind of power, but it’s good enough,” says Malignaggi.

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
