Purse Bid For Joe Joyce vs. Daniel Dubois Delayed For April 24

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has announced an update regarding purse bids for several British title fights and title eliminators.

In the heavyweight division, the purse bid between Joe Joyce and Daniel Dubois for the vacant title has been postponed. Originally, the bid was supposed to take place on April 10, but will now take place on April 24 and the fight itself must take place by August 2019. If the fight does happen, then Joyce's Commonwealth title would also be on the line.

The two sides have publicly expressed interest in fighting each other with promoter Frank Warren saying he will work to make that fight happen provided that Dubois come out victorious in his next fight against Richard Lartey on April 27.

In the light heavyweight division, the BBBofC sent out orders to Andre Sterling and Craig Richards for a final eliminator with the winner being the mandatory challenger to Buatsi's title. A purse bid will take place on May 4 and the fight must take place by the end of August.

The next purse bid is for the junior middleweight title fight between Ted Cheeseman and Scott Fitzgerald. That bid was delayed and the new date will be on May 8. Fitzgerald overtook Anthony Fowler as the mandatory challenger for the British title after beating Fowler on March 30.

Junior welterweight champion Robbie Davies Jr. will have a new mandatory challenger in the coming months after the BBBofC ordered Sam O'Maison to fight Kayamba Prospere. A purse bid has been set for May 8 and if the fight takes place, then O'Maison's English title will also be on the line.

After Ronnie Clark suffered an injury, the BBBofC has now order super featherweight titleholder Sam Bowen to face Anthony Cacace with a purse bid set for May 8 with a purse bid for the featherweight title bout between Ryan Walsh and Jordan Gill also set for that date. Also on May 8 is a purse bid for the super bantamweight eliminator between Micahel Ramabeletsa and Joe Ham.
