The Combate Americas Lightweight Title is going to be defended in the main event of a yet to be announced card on February 21 as Rafa Garcia puts the gold on the line against Humberto Bandenay.
Garcia (10-0-0) is going to be making the first defense of the championship, which he won by defeating Erick Gonzalez at Combate America: Garcia vs. Gonzalez. Garcia is undefeated thus far in his professional MMA career and that streak has lasted over five years. Garcia has picked up ten wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them came by way of submission.
Bandenay (18-7-0-1NC) won the Cope Combate Lightweight Tournament late last year, defeating Erick Gonzalez in the finals. Bandenay won just one of four during his time in the UFC, with that lone victory coming over Martin Bravo at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Bandenay competed a total of five times last year, winning four of those five encounters in that time.
Combate Americas: Garcia vs. Bandenay takes place on Friday, February 21 from a location to be announced with Rafa Garcia and Humberto Bandenay headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
