Ramiz Brahimaj Off UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker After Corner Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Ramiz Brahimaj was scheduled to make his UFC debut this weekend at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker against Takashi Sato, but that won?t be happening now.

That?s because one of Brahimaj?s cornermen has tested positive for the coronavirus and the fighter has been pulled from the card.

The following statement has been released by the UFC on the matter, while also naming Jason Witt as the late replacement opponent:

?Due to a positive COVID-19 test result from one of his cornermen, Ramiz Brahimaj has been removed from his bout against Takashi Sato.

?Replacing Brahimaj will be UFC newcomer Jason Witt, pending medical clearance including a COVID-19 test. As a result, the commission has agreed to weigh in Witt separately and he will not participate in tomorrow?s official weigh-ins and faceoffs.?

Witt would be making his UFC debut in this bout if the fighter passes medicals, while Wiitt has experience competing in Bellator MMA, Legacy Fighting Alliance and Titan Fighting Championship.

UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker takes place on Saturday, June 27 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
