Randy Petalcorin Suffered Internal Bleeding In Title Fight Against Felix Alvarado

Randy Petalcorin’s latest fight proved to be one that took a massive toll on his body.

Peter Maniatis, Petalcorin’s co-promoter, revealed in a post on Facebook that Petalcorin suffered internal bleeding starting in the fourth round of his October 29 fight against Felix Alvarado for the vacant IBF light flyweight title.

Below is Maniatis’ post revealing Petalcorin’s injuries:

“First Big congrats to Felix Alvarado you are the no 1 guy in the Division and a beast! Randy Petalcorin was ahead on the judges scorecards but was suffering internal bleeding from the 4th round not sure what caused it! but the ESPN people MP Promotions Emmanuel Manny Pacquiao said Randy will be a future Star! the fight was stopped in the 7th round Randy was swallowing a lot of his own blood he could not breathe! Randy will come back bigger and better!”

Ryan Songalia would later tweet that the bleeding came from Petalcorin’s mouth and not from due to any wounds to his organs.

Petalcorin, a former interim WBA light flyweight champion, would end up losing to Alvarado after being knocked down three times in the seventh round. Petalcorin, whose six-fight win streak was snapped in the loss against Alvarado. There is no timetable for Petalcorin’s return to the ring.
