Ratings For August 25 Top Rank Boxing On ESPN Card Are In

The ratings are in for the August 25 Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card.

According to Showbuzz Daily, the card, which took place in Arizona and headlined by Raymundo Beltran vs. Jose Pedraza for the WBO lightweight title, averaged just 532,000 viewers and a 0.33 rating. The final viewership and ratings numbers are down from the August 18 Top Rank on ESPN card. That telecast, headlined by Bryant Jennings vs. Alexander Dimitrenko, which averaged 686,000 viewers and a 0.45 rating.

In the main event, Pedraza made a late rally, including a knockdown in the 11th round, to upset Beltran with a unanimous decision win. As such, Pedraza won the WBO lightweight title and put himself in a position to challenge fellow Top Rank stablemate and WBA champion Vasiliy Lomachenko in a unification bout at the end of the year.

The co-main event of the August 25 card was a WBO super bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe scoring a sensational first-round stoppage win over Japanese contender Hidenori Otake. It was Dogboe's first defense of the title he won back in April against Jessie Magdaleno on another Top Rank card on ESPN.

ESPN's boxing programming is a bit scarce for the next couple of months. Not counting events on the ESPN+ streaming service, the only boxing events on ESPN television through the end of September is a Golden Boy Boxing card televised on ESPN2 on September 13 and a Top Rank Boxing card on ESPN on September 14. The September 14 card is a WBC junior welterweight title fight between Jose Ramirez and Antonio Orozco.
