MMA

Former UFC fighter Anthony Johnson was arrested this past Monday Night after getting into a physical altercation with his girlfriend.

TMZ Sports first reported the news, with the girlfriend telling police that she was packing up Johnson’s belongings to throw the fighter out of the house. Which is when Johnson allegedly picked the woman up and "put her in a football hold" while carrying the girlfriend to another room. The unnamed woman told police that "she was scared due to his size and martial arts experience."

Cops did not report any visible injuries to the woman after being placed in the "football hold."

Johnson did admit to the authorities that he had grabbed the woman, but says was never any intentions to harm the victim. The police still determined that Johnson’s actions warranted domestic violence and the former fighter was arrested.

The police report lists Johnson’s profession as a body building, as he had retired from professional MMA competition after a loss to then UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 210.

There has been no further comment from Johnson, a representative for the fighter or the unnamed girlfriend at this time.
