It appears that retired UFC fighter Anthony Johnson is taking his next step to return to the promotion as the fighter has reportedly re-entered the USADA testing pool.
Brett Okamoto of ESPN first reported the news. Johnson will return to the UFC as a light-heavyweight, despite the fighter previously stating that he would return at heavyweight. There is currently no champion in the UFC light-heavyweight division, as the previous champion Jon Jones relinquished the title on Monday.
USADA and UFC protocol state that Johnson must pass all drug tests for the next six months before being cleared to return. Johnson has not competed since UFC 210 in April of 2017, suffering a second-round submission loss to former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier.
If Johnson passes all drug tests issued by USADA in the next six months, fans could potentially see the fighter return to the Octagon around February or March 2021.
