Antonio Carlos Jr. has suffered an injury and has been pulled from the UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo card according to MMA Fighting, leaving opponent Elias Theodorou without somebody to battle at the event.

UFC officials are seeking a replacement to compete against Theodorou, who is expected to remain on the card at this time. The promotion has just under a month to find a suitable opponent for Theodorou, as the event is set for September 22. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury suffered by Carlos Jr. or how longer the fighter is going to be out of action for.

Theodorou (15-2-0) enters the contest while riding a two bout winning streak, having defeated the duo of Daniel Kelly and Trevor Smith. Theodorou has six his last six bouts go the distance and it has been over three years since the fighter got a finish. Theodorou was the winner of the UFC UItimate Fighter Nations, defeating Sheldon Westcott in the finals of the reality show.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
