While boxing fans already know Manny Pacquiao and Adrien Broner will fight on a pay-per-view main event on January 19, 2019, they may soon know about the first undercard bout.
According to Ring TV, former light heavyweight champion Badou Jack and unbeaten contender Marcus Browne are set to fight in a 175-pound matchup on the pay-per-view card. The news comes weeks after the two sides reportedly agreed to terms on a fight, but no specific date was decided upon at the time. There were some dates in January and February being thrown around for the bout with January 16 being one of them.
Jack is a former world champion at 168 and 175 pounds, last fighting in May against WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. The fight ended in a draw, Jack's second in his last three world title fights, and now the Swedish boxer finds himself as one of the division's top contenders. Jack is ranked No. 1 in both the WBA and WBC rankings at light heavyweight and is ranked No. 7 by the WBO.
Browne is similarly ranked highly on multiple governing bodies, being the No. 2 light heavyweight in the WBA, WBO and WBC rankings as well as No. 8 by the IBF. Browne is undefeated as a pro and is coming off a win over Lenin Castillo back in August.
The main event of the card, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, will have Pacquiao fighting in the United States for the first time since 2016 and defending his WBA "regular" welterweight title against Broner.
