A welterweight division attraction has been added to the upcoming UFC 232 card according to Chris Taylor of BJPenn.com as #11 (LW) Michael Chiesa faces Carlos Condit.
Chiesa (14-4-0) is going to be making his UFC Welterweight Division debut in this bout and does so while riding a two fight losing streak. Chiesa had previously competed as a lightweight in the UFC, earning a record of 7-4-0 in that time. Chiesa was also the lightweight winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 15, defeating Al Iaquinta in the finals of the reality show.
Condit (30-12-0) enters the contest while riding a four fight winning streak and he hasn’t picked up a win in over three years. Condit is a former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion, defeating Nick Diaz by decision to win the gold at UFC 143. Condit doesn’t have much luck in fights that go the distance, having won just two of eight bouts that go to the judges scorecards.
UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Cyborg and Amanda Nunes headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
