Report: Chase Sherman vs. Augusto Sakai Added To UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo

A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo according to Flo Combat as Chase Sherman is going to be in action against Augusto Sakai.

Sherman (11-5-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight losing streak, having dropped bouts to the duo of Shamil Abdurakhimov and Justin Willis. Sherman hasn’t picked up a win in over a year and that last victory came against Damian Grabowski at UFC On Fox 25. Sherman has competed a total of sixteen times as a professional MMA fighter and none of those bouts have ended by way of submission.

Sakai (11-1-1) is going to be making his UFC debut in this fight and does so on the strength of a two bout winning streak. Sakai competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Brazil Episode 1, defeating Marcos Conrado Jr. by second round TKO. Sakai also won four of six during his time in Bellator MMA, with a notable win coming over PFL veteran Daniel Gallemore at Bellator 139.

UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo takes place on Saturday, September 22 from the Ibirapueroa Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil with Jimi Manuwa and Thiago Santos headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
