Report: Chris Gonzalez Faces Henry Mendez At Bellator 214

A lightweight division attraction has been added to the Bellator 214 card according to MMA Junkie as Chris Gonzalez is going to be in action against Henry Mendez.

Gonzalez (1-0-0) will make his Bellator MMA debut in this bout, with the fighter making his professional MMA debut in October of last year. Gonzalez made that professional MMA debut at Gladiator Challenge: Avalanche, defeating Tyrese McCloud by first round submission. Gonzalez is also a six time Greco Roman All-American wrestler and trains out of Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California.

Mendez (0-0-0) is going to be making both his Bellator MMA debut and his professional MMA debut in this encounter. Mendez won just two of seven bouts as an amateur MMA encounter, with those wins coming over the duo of Magerram Ziyadov and Kevin Seneca Persson. Mendez is also going to be returning to action for the first time in over two years, with his last amateur bout taking place in October of 2016.

Bellator 214 takes place on Saturday, January 26 from The Forum in Inglewood, California with Ryan Bader and Fedor Emelianenko headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
