A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC 246 as #6 Claudia Gadelha is in action against #11 Alexa Grasso.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.
Gadelha (17-4-0) has rotated wins and losses in her last five UFC bouts, with the latest one being a unanimous decision victory over Randa Markos at UFC 239. Gadelha has seen her last four fights go the distance and it has been over two years since the fighter got a finish. Gadelha has previously challenged for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship, losing to then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale.
Grasso (11-3-0) has rotated wins and losses throughout her UFC run, with the latest contest being a majority decision loss to Carla Esparza at UFC Fight Night Mexico City. Grasso has picked up three losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came in UFC competition. Grasso has competed fourteen times as a professional MMA fighter and nine of those encounters went the distance.
UFC 246 takes place on Saturday, January 18 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
