Report: Conor McGregor Signs New 6 Fight Deal With The UFC

MMA

Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor is back in the Octagon next month at UFC 229, challenging Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC Lightweight Title.

Next month’s UFC 229 card will not be the last time fans will get to see McGregor in the Octagon, because Darren Rovell of ESPN is reporting that the former dual UFC champion has signed an eight fight deal with the promotion. Dana White would later correct this to say it's a six fight deal.

"It's not hard to do a deal with Conor McGregor because we know what he's worth," UFC President Dana White told ESPN.

No financial numbers have been released for the deal at this time, but White also told ESPN that it could potentially make McGregor the most money out of anybody else who has competed in the sport.

Another benefit for McGregor is that his new whiskey, called Proper Whiskey, is going to be an official sponsor of every event that McGregor competes at.

"You bet your bollocks it is," McGregor said at the UFC 229 press conference. "On the canvas. On the canvas. Like [Nurmagomedev's] blood will be on the canvas."

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
