Report: Conor McGregor Took Steroids And HGH After His Leg Healed

Conor McGregor broke his tibia in July 2021 in a fight against Dustin Poirier. The injury has sidelined him for five years, but he is scheduled to return to the Octagon in July 2026 to fight Max Holloway.

On June 11, a report from the New York Times was published alleging that McGregor took banned substances while he was sidelined, citing the fact that he took himself out of the USADA testing pool.

A new report from Michael S Schmidt states “according to two people with knowledge of the matter, McGregor took two of the most powerful performance-enhancing drugs — anabolic steroids and human growth hormone — even after his leg healed.”

The report continues, “One of the people said U.F.C. officials learned from McGregor that he had remained on the drugs because he liked how they made him feel and the energy they gave him.”

It’s unclear how long McGregor used the drugs, but he was tested again starting in October 2023.

Conor McGregor has said that he has been tested 15 times in 2026. He will officially return to the cage on July 11 against Holloway.
