A matchup between middleweight contenders Darren Till and Derek Brunson is in the works for the UFC's first post-COVID-19 pandemic European event.
ESPN's Brett Okamoto was the first to report the news of the bout being nearly finalized with a target date of September 4 in London, England at a yet-to-be-announced UFC Fight Night event. This will mark the first time the Octagon has been back in Europe since UFC Fight Night 163 which took place back in November 2019 from Moscow, Russia.
Till is 1-1 since moving up to 185 pounds, losing a unanimous decision in his last outing to Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Island 3. This will also be his return bout from a broken collarbone injury he suffered back in April and his first fight in England since March 2019 where he was knocked out in the second round by Jorge Masvidal at UFC Fight Night 147. Brunson on the other hand has had a late-career surge, winning his last four fights, and defeating Kevin Holland via a unanimous decision in his most recent Octagon appearance at UFC Vegas 22.
