Report: Demian Maia Faces Anthony Rocco Martin At UFC Fight Night Minneapolis


A welterweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Minneapolis according to Raphael Marinho of Combate as #12 Demian Maia is in action against Anthony Rocco Martin.

Maia (26-9-0) has won just one of his last four under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming against Lyman Good at UFC Fight Night Fortaleza. Maia has previously challenged for the UFC Welterweight Championship, losing to then champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 214. Maia has also previously challenged for the UFC Middleweight Champion, losing to then champion Anderson Silva at UFC 112.

Martin (16-4-0) enters the contest while riding a four fight winning streak, defeating the four pack of Keita Nakamura, Ryan LaFlare, Jake Matthews and Sergio Moraes. Martin has suffered four defeats as a professional MMA fighter and all of those losses came in UFC competition. Martin has picked up sixteen wins as a professional MMA fighter and more than half of them came by way of submission.

UFC Fight Night Minneapolis takes place on Saturday, June 29 from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota with Tyron Woodley and Robbie Lawler headlining. Fightful is going to be providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
