A welterweight division encounter has been added to Bellator 201 according to MMA Junkie as Ed Ruth is going to be in action against Andy Murad.
Ruth (5-0-0) has spent his entire professional MMA career competing in Bellator MMA, last defeating Ion Pascu by unanimous decision at Bellator 196. Ruth has already defeated one UFC veteran since turning pro in 2016, and that win came over Chris Dempsey at Bellator 186. Ruth has seen just one of his professional MMA bouts go the distance, against the aforementioned Ion Pascu earlier this year.
Murad (15-2-0) returns to Bellator MMA for the first time in over four years and while riding a nine fight winning streak. Murad is actually winless in Bellator MMA competition, having dropped bouts to the duo of Gavin Sterritt and Ricky Rainey. Murad has spent the majority of his professional MMA career competing in the Gladiator Challenge promotion, where the fighter holds a win over Bellator MMA veteran Johnny Cisneros.
Bellator 201 takes place on Friday, June 29 from the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California with Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Alejandra Lara headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
