Report: Egidijus Kavaliauskas To Fight On March 30

While Terence Crawford and Amir Khan are set to fight for the WBO welterweight title in April, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, potentially the next man in line to fight for the title afterwards, will be busy next month.

According to ESPN, Kavaliauskas will fight on a Top Rank on ESPN card from Philadelphia on March 30. Kavaliauskas will reportedly fight fellow welterweight contender Ray Robinson in a stay-busy fight, keeping Kavaliauskas in action until he gets his shot at the WBO title.

Kavaliauskas is currently ranked No. 1 by the WBO at welterweight but the governing body has yet to order a fight between him and Crawford, the current titleholder. Crawford will defend his title against Khan on April 20 in the main event of an ESPN pay-per-view card at Madison Square Garden.

The 30-year-old Kavaliauskas, nicknamed "Mean Machine," has won all 21 of his pro bouts since making his debut in 2013. Kavaliauskas fought three times in 2018, all NABF welterweight title defenses, and defeated David Avanesyan, Juan Carlos Abreu and Roberto Arriaza in his most recent fight back in November.

Robinson, a former WBO-NABO welterweight champion, saw his 12-fight win streak come to an end in his last fight in February 2018 when he was stopped by Yordenis Ugas. Robinson is currently unranked in the top 15 in any of the four major boxing organizations.

As for the March 30 card, the event has yet to be formally announced, but it is expected to feature WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk in the main event.
