MMA

Paul Redmond was in need of a new opponent for Bellator Dublin after the withdrawal of Ryan Scope and now he has one because Georgi Karakhanyan has accepted the short notice opportunity.

Simon Head of MMA Junkie first reported the news, plus the bout is still expected to be a part of the main card.

Redmond (15-8-0) has won two of three in Bellator MMA, with those wins coming over Sergio De Jesus Santos and Charlie Leary. Redmond went winless during a two fight stint in the UFC, having dropped bouts to Mirsad Bektic and Robert Whiteford. Redmond went undefeated during his stint as an amateur MMA fighter, which includes a win over Artem Lobov.

Karakhanyan (28-10-1-1NC) has won just one of his last five fights, with that lone win coming over Alexey Polpudnikov at ACB 86. Karakhanyan competed in the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix, losing to AJ McKee in the opening round at Bellator 228. Karakhanyan is a former WSOF Featherweight Champion, defeating Lance Palmer at the WSOF 7 to claim the gold.

Bellator Dublin takes place on Saturday, February 22 from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland with James Gallagher and Cal Ellenor headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on the Bellator App.
