Report: Gian Villante Battling Sam Alvey At UFC Fight Night Utica

The light heavyweight division is going to be represented at UFC Fight Night Utica according to Mark La Monica of Newsday as #14 Gian Villante faces Sam Alvey.

Villante (16-9-0) last competed on the UFC 220 card, defeating Francimar Barroso by way of split decision. Villante is competing in the state of New York for the fourth time in his UFC career, winning two of the first three fights in the state. Villante has been with the UFC for almost five years now and the competitor have never been able to win more than two fights in a row in the promotion.

Alvey (32-10-0-1NC) has been unbeaten since moving up to the light heavyweight division, having defeated Marcin Prachnio by knockout at UFC On Fox 28. Alvey has previously competed as a middleweight division his UFC tenure, earning a record of 8-5-0 in that weight class. Alvey has earned more than half of his professional MMA victories by KO/TKO, but the fighter has also suffered the majority of losses by way of decision.

UFC Fight Night Utica takes place on Friday, June 1 from the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York with Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
