Report: Guillermo Rigondeaux Fighting On January PBC On FS1 Card

Former world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux is ready to return to the ring on an upcoming Premier Boxing Champions card.

Boxrec had originally posted that Rigondeaux will fight Daniel Rosas as part of the undercard for the January 13 PBC card. That card will air on Fox Sports 1 as the first PBC card of 2019 that will air on a Fox platform.

According to Ring TV, there has been a change in Rigondeaux's opponent. The Cuban boxer will now reportedly face Giovanni Delgado. Delgado is a 27-year-old Mexican fighter who has lost six of his last seven fights. Delgado has fought top prospects such as Joshua Greer Jr., Brandon Figueroa and Diego De La Hoya to contenders like Cesar Juarez and Joseph Diaz to even current IBF bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez.

Rigondeaux has not fought since moving up two weight classes to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko at Madison Square Garden on December 2017. Rigondeaux lost the fight and was soon stripped of his WBA "Super" super bantamweight world title, allowing Daniel Roman to be elevated from "Regular" champion to sole world champion. The last time Rigondeaux won a fight was against Jazza Dickens in July 2016.

The 38-year-old Rigondeaux's fight will be the first one since signing a promotional deal with PBC. The main event of the January 13 show, taking place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, is Jose Uzcategui vs. Caleb Plant for the IBF super middleweight title.
