Report: Hector Sandoval Off UFC Fight Night Utica, Jose Torres Replaces Him

Hector Sandoval has suffered a back injury according to Raphael Marinho of Combate and has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Utica, replacing him against Jarred Brooks is going to be Jose Torres.

Brooks (13-1-0) is looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo. Brooks has since both of his UFC bouts go the distance and it has been over a year since the fighter got a finish. Brooks also competed once in the WSOF Global Championships promotion, defeating Junji Ito by second round knockout at WSOF GC 2 in February of 2016.

Torres (7-0-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this fight and does so with an undefeated streak that has already lasted over two years. Torres is a two division champion in the Titan Fighting Championships, holding the promotion’s flyweight and bantamweight straps. Torres has already defeated one UFC veteran in his professional MMA career, having defeated Pedro Nobre by first round TKO at Titan FC 43.

UFC Fight Night Utica takes place on Friday, June 1 from the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York with Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
