Lemminger (10-1-0) is making his Bellator MMA debut in this bout and does so on the strength of a three fight winning streak. Lemminger has suffered just a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that came against Jason Witt at CFFC 13 in January of 2018. Lemminger is a former Final Fight Championship and Chosen Few Fighting Championship Welterweight Champion, winning those titles in 2017 and 2019.

Smith (7-3-0) has won just one of two under the Bellator MMA banner, with that lone win coming over Steve Kozola at Bellator 193. Smith is competing for the first time in almost a year, with his last bout happening at Bellator 226 in September of 2019. Smith has picked up seven wins as a professional MMA fighter and five of them came by way of KO/TKO.

Bellator 242 takes place on Friday, July 24 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut with Sergio Pettis and Ricky Bandejas headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
