Report: James DeGale vs. Chris Eubank Jr. Pushed Back To 2019

James DeGale's rumored fight against Chris Eubank Jr. has been moved back from December to 2019 according to reports.

The fight was originally supposed to take place on December 8 in London, but that fight has been pushed back due to the month being a crowded one for boxing. The fight could take place on January 12, 2019, according to a report from Chris McKenna, which can be seen in the tweet below.

DeGale has not fought since this past April when he won back the IBF super middleweight title against Caleb Truax. DeGale would then go on to vacate the title earlier this year instead of fighting then-interim champion Jose Uzcategui. The former champion's reasoning for vacating the title was that he wanted to have big fights for the last chapter of his career. DeGale would then go on to fight in September and then tease on Twitter that he has a big fight for December, hinting at the clash against Eubank.

Eubank, the son of former British world champion Chris Eubank Sr., advanced to the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series super middleweight tournament, but lost to George Groves in February. Eubank would go on to fight on the undercard of the WBSS super middleweight finals back in September in Saudi Arabia, defeating JJ McDonagh after three rounds.
