Report: Jeff Hughes Faces Carlos Felipe At UFC Fight Night Columbus

A heavyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night Columbus as Jeff Hughes is in action against Carlos Felipe.

MMA Fighting first reported the bout, but its placement on the card isn’t known at this time.

Hughes (10-3-0-1NC) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, dropping bouts to Maurice Greene and Raphael Pessoa, while fighting Todd Duffee to a no contest. Hughes also competed on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series Episode 14, defeating Josh Appelt by first round knockout. Hughes is a former LFA Heavyweight Champion, defeating Richard Odoms at LFA 26 to claim the gold.

Felipe (8-0-0) is making his UFC debut in this encounter and does so after serving a multi-year suspension from USADA. Felipe has competed a total of eight times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those bouts went past the opening round. Felipe has picked up eight wins as a professional MMA fighter and six of them came by way of KO/TKO. 

UFC Fight Night Columbus takes place on Saturday, March 28 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio with Francis Ngannou and Jairzinho Rozenstruik headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
