Report: Jermall Charlo Set To Headline First PBC Show Under New FOX Deal

The first Premier Boxing Champions card under its new deal with FOX looks to feature interim WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo.

A report from Ring TV indicates that PBC's next card on FOX, the first since the two entities signed a multi-year extension, will take place December 22 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Charlo in the main event.

No opponent has been named, but according to the report, Maciej Sulecki is the favorite to land the spot as Charlo's opponent. If Sulecki does end up becoming Charlo's opponent, then it would be the second straight fight Sulecki fights in the main event of a boxing card at the Barclays Center. In Sulecki's last fight, he lost a unanimous decision to middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs back in April.

Charlo was recently ordered to fight Gennady Golovkin in a middleweight final eliminator for the WBC championship. With no word on if Golovkin will accept the fight, he'll likely be inactive until 2019 at the earliest. In the meantime, Charlo will look to keep fighting until he gets his shot at a middleweight world championship. Charlo has not fought since knocking out Hugo Centeno Jr. in the second round of their fight for the interim WBC title back in April.

In the deal with FOX, PBC will work with an annual budget of more than $50 million to organize boxing cards on both FOX and FS1. In the FOX deal, which kicks off this December, calls for “10 championship-level fights on FOX, with at least another 12 shows on FS1.”
