A women’s strawweight division attraction has been added to UFC on Fox 30 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #1 Joanna Jedrzejczyk takes on #5 Tecia Torres.
Jedrzejczyk (14-2-0) enters the contest in the midst of a two fight losing streak, with both of those losses coming to UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas. Jedrzejczyk is also competing in a non-title bout for the first time in over three years, with that last bout coming against Claudia Gadelha at UFC On Fox 13. Jedrzejczyk also went undefeated during her brief career as an amateur MMA fighter, which includes a win over fellow UFC fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz.
Torres (10-2-0) has won three of her last four under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Bec Rawlings, Juliana Lima and Michelle Waterson. Torres has only had one of her twelve professional MMA bouts end with a finish, which was a submission win over the aforementioned Juliana Lima at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale. Torres has also fought UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas twice before, winning one of those two encounters.
UFC on Fox 30 takes place on Saturday, July 28 from the Scotiabank Center in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
