Report: John Teixeira Steps In At Bellator 205

MMA

AJ McKee was left without an opponent after Pat Curran withdrew from Bellator 205, but a report from MMA Junkie is stating that John Teixeira has agreed to step in on short notice to fight McKee at the event.

McKee (11-0-0) has spent his entire professional MMA career competing in Bellator, with seven victories in the promotion coming by KO/TKO or submission. McKee has previously headlined a Bellator card, having defeated Brian Moore by third round submission at Bellator 187. McKee did suffer a single defeat as an amateur MMA fighter and that came to Christian Espinoza in June of 2013.

Teixeira (21-3-2) enters the contest while riding a two fight losing streak, having dropped bouts to the duo of Daniel Weichel and Pat Curran. Teixeira has seen his last seven professional MMA bouts go the distance and it has been over four years since the fighter got a finish. Teixeira is also going to be headlining his first ever Bellator MMA card, despite having been in the promotion for almost four years.

Bellator 205 takes place on Friday, September 21 from the Century Link Arena in Boise, Idaho with AJ McKee and John Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
