Juan Francisco Estrada's first WBC super flyweight title defense will reportedly take place in his home country in Mexico later this year.
According to a report from Dan Rafael, Estrada will defend his title in the main event of a DAZN card on August 24 at a site in Mexico yet to be determined. Estrada's opponent was also not mentioned in the report.
Estrada won the WBC title, his third world title, after winning a 12-round decision against Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on April 26 in a rematch of their February 2018 slugfest. Estrada previously said he intended to fight some of the other champions at 115 pounds and a recent report stated that the priority is to eventually have Estrada fight IBF titleholder Jerwin Ancajas. There is no guarantee, however, the unification is happening next or even in 2019 for that matter.
Although not much was revealed regarding Estrada's title defense in the ESPN report, but it did state that heavyweight prospect Filip Hrgovic could potentially fight on the card as well. Hrgovic last fought on a DAZN card in Maryland back in May when he knocked out Gregory Corbin in the first minute of the fight to retain his WBC International heavyweight title.
This isn't the first time DAZN has a boxing card taking place in Mexico. In fact, it is its third event this year after the first card saw Humberto Soto defeat Brandon Rios in February and more recently, Jaime Munguia retaining his WBO junior middleweight title against Dennis Hogan on April 13.
