Report: Jussier Formiga Faces Sergio Pettis At UFC 229

A flyweight division affair has been added to UFC 229 according to ESPN as #2 Sergio Pettis is going to be in action against #5 Jussier Formiga.

Pettis (17-3-0) has won five of his last six under the UFC banner, with those wins coming over Chris Cariaso, Chris Kelades, John Moraga, Brandon Moreno and Joseph Benavidez. Pettis has six his last six bouts go the distance and it has been over three years since the fighter got a finish. Pettis has picked up a total of seventeen wins as a professional MMA fighter, with eleven of them coming by way of decision.

Formiga (21-5-0) enters the contest on the strength of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Yuta Sasaki and Ben Nguyen. Formiga has suffered a defeat in well over a year, with that last loss coming to Ray Borg at UFC Fight Night 106. Formiga has picked up a total of twenty one wins as a professional MMA fighter, but he has yet to pick up a victory by KO/TKO.

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
