Report: Justin Scoggins Injured, Off Rizin 15

This weekends Rizin 15 card has taken a hit as Justin Scoggins has suffered a knee injury and has been pulled from a bout against Kai Asakura.

MMA Fighting reported that news, while also reporting that Asakura has been pulled from the card due to the lack of time for the promotion to find a replacement opponent.

Scoggins would issue the following statement on the injury and fight cancellation:

”I would like to apologize to Rizin and the fans, and my opponent Asakura for not being to fight on the upcoming card. I have suffered a serious knee injury that completely prevents me from competing. It is a fight I requested and one I hope to do later in the year. I respect Asakura and am very sorry for this exciting fight must be delayed. I also apologize to Mr. Sakakibara who approved this fight for me. I look forward to making it up to him when I am healthy.”

There is no word yet as to whether or not the fight is going to be re-booked or if the fighters will go there separate ways.

Rizin 15 takes place on Sunday, April 21 from the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan with King Mo and Jiri Prochazka headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on Fite TV.
