Report: Katlyn Chookagian Backup Fighter For UFC 231 Co-Main Event

Former UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Valentina Shevchenko are battling for the vacant UFC Women’s Flyweight Title in the co-main event of UFC 231.

Katlyn Chookagian is also battling Jessica Eye in a women’s flyweight division bout on the same card, but Chookagian will also serve as a backup fighter for the women’s flyweight title bout according to Shaheen Al-Shatti of MMA Fighting. Chookagian will only be competing for the title is either Jedrzejczyk and Shevchenko are unable to compete in the co-main event bout, otherwise Chookagian will still battle Eye on the card.

UFC 231 takes place on Saturday, December 8 from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with Max Holloway and Brian Ortega headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
