A women’s flyweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night San Antonio according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #3 Liz Carmouche is in action against #5 Roxanne Modafferi.
Carmouche (13-6-0) enters the contest while in the midst of a two fight winning streak, defeating the duo of Jennifer Maia and Lucie Pudilova. Carmouche has previously competed for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 157. Carmouche has competed as both a flyweight and bantamweight in the UFC, earning an overall record of 5-4-0 in the promotion.
Modafferi (23-15-0) has rotated wins and losses in her second UFC run, with the latest bout being a victory over Antonina Shevchenko at UFC Fight Night St. Petersburg. Modafferi has previously competed for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Title, losing to then champion Nicco Montano at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale. Modafferi has competed thirty eight times as a professional MMA fighter and twenty five of those bouts went the distance.
UFC Fight Night San Antonio takes place on Saturday, July 20 from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
