Report: Luke Rockhold Faces Jan Blachowicz At UFC 239

A light heavyweight division bout has been added to UFC 239 according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN as #2 (MW) Luke Rockhold is going to be in action against #6 Jan Blachowicz.

Rockhold (16-4-0) is going to be making his UFC Light Heavyweight Division debut in this bout, having previously competed at middleweight. Rockhold is a former UFC Middleweight Champion, defeating Chris Weidman to win the gold at UFC 194. Rockhold is also returning to action for the first time in over a year, with his last bout happening at UFC 221 in February of 2018.

Blachowicz (23-8-0) has won four of his last five under the UFC banner, but is coming off of a loss to Thiago Santos at UFC Fight Night Prague. Blachowicz is competing for the twelfth time in the UFC, but this would mark the first time he has fought a former UFC champion while in the promotion. Blachowicz is also competing on a UFC pay-per-view card for the first time in over two years, with his last such appearance coming at UFC 210 in April of 2017.

UFC 239 takes place on Saturday, July 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
