Assuncao (27-5-0) will enter the contest on the strength of a four fight winning streak, which includes a win over Moraes in their first meeting at UFC 212. Assuncao is also going to be headlining his first UFC event, despite having been with the promotion for over seven years. Assuncao has suffered just two defeats in his UFC tenure, with those coming to current UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw and Erik Koch.
Moraes (21-5-1) will enter the contest riding a three fight winning streak, having defeated the trio of Jimmie Rivera, John Dodson and Aljamain Sterling. Moraes was the first and only World Series Of Fighting Bantamweight Champion, defeating Josh Rettinghouse to win the gold at the WSOF 9. Moraes is going to be headlining his second straight UFC card, as the fighter previously headlined UFC Fight Night Utica.
UFC Fight Night Fortaleza is set for Saturday, February 2 from a location to be announced with Raphael Assuncao and Marlon Moraes headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on ESPN+.
