A bantamweight division attraction could be coming to UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris as #13 Song Yadong faces #14 Marlon Vera.
MMA Fighting first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Yadong (15-4-1-1NC) has won four of five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Bharat Khandare, Felipe Arantes, Vince Morales and Alejandro Perez. Yadong hasn’t picked up a victory in just about a year, because his last bout against Cody Stamann at UFC Fight Night Washington DC ended in a majority draw. Yadong has competed twenty one times as a professional MMA fighter and six of those bouts went the distance.
Vera (15-5-1) enters the contest riding a five fight winning streak, with those wins coming over Wuliji Buren, Guido Cannetti, Frankie Saenz, Nohelin Hernandez and Andre Ewell. Vera hasn’t suffered a defeat in over two years, with that last loss coming to Douglas Silva De Andrade at UFC Fight Night Belem. Vera has suffered five losses as a professional MMA fighter and all of them came by way of decision.
UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Harris takes place on Saturday, May 16 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
