Report: Melissa Gatto’s B Sample Comes Back Positive

It was revealed a little over a week ago that Melissa Gatto had failed a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) issued drug test ahead of UFC 239.

The fighter recently had her B sample tested and it came back positive for a diuretic according to MMA Fighting. Gatto also revealed that she wanted to have various supplements tested for contamination, but couldn’t afford the going rate of $500 per test.

Gatto hasn’t spoken out about the drug test failure at this time, but the fighter did reveal to MMA Fighting that she expects to be suspended for a year for the failed test. It should be noted that USADA has yet to issue any kind of suspension or other penalty yet for the failed drug test. The fighter could also be suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC), since that was the commission overseeing the UFC 239 event.

This drug test failure couldn’t come at a worse time for the fighter, as Gatto has yet to even make her official UFC debut. Gatto does hold a professional MMA record of 6-0-2 and if she is indeed suspended for a year as the fighter predicted, it would mean that Gatto wouldn’t be fighting for almost two years.
