A catchweight fight has been added to Bellator 244 as Mike Kimbel faces Chaka Worthy.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, which is expected to be a part of the preliminary card.
Kimbel (3-2-0) has spent his entire professional MMA career competing in Bellator. He has picked up wins over Geoffrey Then, Alex Potts and Sebastian Ruiz. Kimbel will be back in action for the first time in a year. His last bout came at Bellator 225 in August of 2019. Kimbel has only gone the distance once in his five-fight pro career.
Worthy (3-1-0) will make his Bellator debut and does so having won two of three pro fights. Worthy last competed at a Stout Fights event in October of 2019, defeating Wallter Flores by second-round TKO. Worthy also won two of four as an amateur MMA fighter but he turned pro on a two-fight amateur losing streak.
Bellator 244 takes place on Friday, August 21 from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Ryan Bader vs. Vadim Nemkov will top the card. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
