A lightweight division affair could be making its way to the UFC On Fox 28 card as Olivier Aubin-Mercier is taking on Gilbert Burns.
Farah Hannoun first reported the potential clash.
Aubin-Mercier (10-2-0) enters the fight on the strength of a three bout winning streak, last defeating Tony Martin at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh. Aubin-Mercier has only suffered two defeats as a pro MMA fighter, with those defeats coming to Chad Laprise and Carlos Diego Ferreira. Aubin-Mercier made it to the finals of the UFC Ultimate Fighter Nations, losing to Chad Laprise in those finals.
Burns (12-2-0) has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC bouts, with his last bout being a win over Jason Saggo at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh. Burns didn’t leave the first round in any of his fights until signing with the UFC, but he did win all seven of those fights prior to the UFC debut. Burns has only seen three of his fourteen bouts as a pro go the distance, but the fighter only won just one of those three contests.
UFC On Fox 28 takes place on Saturday, February 24 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
