Showtime has found itself in a bit of a tough situation after one of their headliners for an April boxing card has reportedly withdrawn from the fight.
According to ESPN's Dan Rafael, Figueroa won't be fighting Broner on April 21 in what was supposed to be a main event fight. The reason for Figueroa's withdrawal is not due to a DUI arrest he recently had, but more so due to a shoulder injury. Figueroa is due for a March 27 court date on that arrest, which happened back in January.
Right now, according to the report, the network is trying to find an opponent for Broner. The winner of that fight could be a potential WBC junior welterweight title challenger once the four-man tournament for the WBC title involving Regis Prograis, Julius Indongo, Jose Ramirez and Amir Imam.
Figueroa isn't the only one who recently got in trouble with the authorities. Broner was also recently arrested in Atlanta for misdemeanor sexual battery.
On that April 21 boxing card, which does not have a venue yet, former super featherweight world champion Gervonta Davis is scheduled to fight. Also recently announced was the interim WBC middleweight title bout between Jermall Charlo and Hugo Centeno Jr. That fight was supposed to take place on the March 3 Showtime boxing card, but Centeno suffered an injury the week of the fight.
