A lightweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira as Omar Morales faces Gabriel Benitez.
ESPN (via MMA Junkie) first reported the bout, who?s spot on the card isn?t known at this time.
Morales (9-0-0) has already picked up one win under the UFC banner, with that lone victory coming over Dong Hyun Ma at UFC Fight Night Busan. Morales also competed on Dana White?s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 7, defeating Harvey Park by second round TKO. Morales has competed nine times as a professional MMA fighter and just two of those encounters went the distance.
Benitez (21-7-0) has won two of his last three in the UFC, with those wins coming over the duo of Jason Knight and Humberto Bandenay. Benaitez hasn?t picked up a victory in just about two years, with that last win coming at UFC Fight Night Chile in May of 2018. Benitez competed on the UFC Ultimate Fighter Latin America 1, making it to the semi-finals before losing to Leonardo Morales.
UFC Fight Night: Smith vs. Teixeira takes place on Wednesday, May 13 from the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida with Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
