The second ever women’s flyweight division fight is heading to UFC 216 as #12 (SW) Paige VanZant faces Jessica Eye.

VanZant (7-3-0) has competed exclusively as a strawweight in the UFC thus far, defeating Kailin Curran, Felice Herrig, Alex Chambers and Bec Rawlings. VanZant also competed once under the Invicta FC banner, dropping a fight to fellow UFC fighter Tecia Torres at Invicta FC 4. VanZant hasn’t earned a victory in just about a year. She last defeated Bec Rawlings at UFC On Fox 21 in August of 2016.
Eye (11-6-0-1NC) has competed exclusively in the women’s bantamweight division in the UFC, but she hasn’t earned a victory in almost three years. Eye has only won just one of seven fights during her UFC tenure, with that lone victory coming over Leslie Smith at UFC 180. Eye also competed a few times in Bellator MMA, defeating then women’s flyweight champion Zoila Frausto by first round submission.
UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 6 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
