A featherweight division attraction has been added to UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik as Peter Barrett faces Steve Garcia.
MMA Junkie first reported the bout, who’s spot on the card isn’t known at this time.
Barrett (11-3-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so while riding a two fight winning streak. Barrett competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 10, defeating Sang Hoon Yoo by unanimous decision. Barrett has picked up eleven wins as a professional MMA fighter and seven of them came by way of KO/TKO.
Garcia (11-4-0) is winless thus far under the UFC banner, having dropped a bout to Luis Pena at UFC Fight Night Norfolk. Garcia also competed on the Contender Series, defeating Desmond Torres by first round TKO on Season 3, Episode 9. Garcia also won five of seven when competing in Bellator MMA, with a notable win coming over Shawn Bunch.
UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik takes place on Saturday, August 8 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Oleinik headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, while broadcast plans have yet to be announced.
